Reports to: Warehouse Supervisor
Location: Monksland, Athlone
FTC Night Shifts: 8.25 hr. 37.5 hours per week Average Work Week (12x5 Operations)
Sunday to Friday (Sunday 23:00-07:00, Monday to Friday 22:45-07:00 to allow for shift handover)
Introduction to role:
The Warehouse Associate is responsible for the day-to-day warehouse activities at the Athlone facility. They ensure that all warehouse activities are completed as per approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), in a safe manner and in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). This role is pivotal in supporting the execution of operational readiness in Alexion’s manufacturing facility. The individual in this position is expected to represent Alexion Pharmaceutical interests, objectives, and policies in a professional and responsible manner.
Accountabilities:
- Performing day-to-day warehouse activities to meet schedules while maintaining a high level of GMP compliance
- Ensuring all training and safety procedures for equipment, processes, and facility are maintained and up to date at all times
- Maintaining the Warehouse Quality System by adhering to all relevant SOPs, policies, and cGMP requirements
- Aiding with troubleshooting and resolving operational problems as they arise
- Acting as Subject Matter Expert on the Dispensary area and on material Sampling and related activity, demonstrating technical proficiency in all aspects of this area
- Performing routine activities related to the transfer of dispensed materials to the manufacturing environment
- Performing routine material inspection exercises in accordance with agreed procedures and standards to support material release in line with manufacturing schedule
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas needing improvement, recommending strategies for improvement, and implementing those strategies once approved
- Proactively ensuring that all Environmental, Health, and Safety responsibilities are carried out according to EHS regulations and procedures
- Providing support to Operations, Validation, Engineering, and Quality where required
- Completing training with new/junior Warehouse Associates
- Reporting to Warehouse Associate Lead/Supervisor on a regular basis on area performance and reporting any issues that need to be resolved
- Authoring and revising standard operating procedures, related forms/logbooks, and job roles as the need arises
- Recognising and initiating deviations relevant to the area, performing associated investigations, and ensuring closure in a timely manner
- Representing Warehouse/Operations in cross-functional initiatives and meetings
- Embracing Alexion Core Competencies
- Performing any other duties as required
Essential Skills/Experience
- Proven experience performing warehouse activities in a cGMP commercial manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in an inventory management system e.g. SAP or equivalent
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel & Word
- Good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledgeable of regulatory and GMP requirements
Desirable Skills/Experience
- IATA and ADR training to support sample shipment
- Formal education in logistics/warehousing/supply chain would be an advantage
